Too Many Mistakes Cost The Emirates Lions Against Jaguares

The Emirates Lions were completely overshadowed in their season opener against the Jaguares when they lost with 8-38. The Jaguares dominated in attack and defence and although the Lions was technically still in the game at halftime the cracks was there for everybody to see. Too many missed tackles, indecisiveness in attack and failed lineouts by the Lions in a game against a Jaguares team that had eighteen players that played at the 2019 Rugby World Championship.

The Lions had the early chances but it's the Jaguares who opened the scoring with the driving maul from the line-out win getting them close to the line before the ball came out to Miotti who used his speed to score the first try. A tight affair in the first twenty minutes but the Jaguares just leading with 10-8 after the first quarter.

A very physical second 20 minutes with the Lions refusing an opportunity to take the lead via a converted penalty. The Jaguares took a slender lead into half time as they lead 10-8 over the Lions. It's been a closely fought battle so far with both sides having periods of dominance but neither could stretch their lead out further.

The Jaguares soaked up all the pressure from the Lions early in the second half, however, the first time tackling by the Lions, or rather the lack thereof lead to two tries to the Jaguares which gave them the lead with 24-8. With twenty minutes still to go, it seems all done and dusted for the Jaguares.

The Jaguares ran away with this one in the final quarter and scored two converted tries to win 38-8. It was 10-8 at half time and evenly poised but the home side hit another gear in the second half and the Lions were not able to handle it as they get the bonus point win and kick off their season with a big win.
