The DHL Stormers started their 2020 Super Rugby season with a comprehensive 27-0 win against visiting Hurricanes from New Zealand, after leading 19-0 at the half time break.

Herschelle Jantjies again showed why is so highly rated when his brilliant crosskick was gathered by Sergal Pietersen to open the Stormers account in the match after just seven minutes. Another try by Kitshoff in the first quarter of the match gave the Stormers a well deserved 12-0 lead after the first twenty minutes.

The penalty count of 7-2 against the Hurricanes was a reflection of the amount of pressure the Hurricanes were under in the first thirty minutes of the game. Although the Hurricanes started to get their hands on the ball the last ten minutes of the half, the 19-0 lead the DHL Stormers enjoyed at the break was well deserved and a true reflection at that stage.

The first twenty minutes of the second half only produced a converted penalty by Damian Willemse but the DHL Stormers is in total control of the match and again well deservedly in the lead with 22-0.

The rhythm of the first 30 minutes of the match lost a bit after the introduction of the replacements but an apt ending to the game when Damian Willemse ran the full length of the pitch to score a brilliant individual try. The DHL Stormers deservedly earned the full five points with a comprehensive 27-0 win.
